Several of the world’s most influential artists, athletes, musicians, and advocates are set to gather in Cape Town next month for Earthshot Week, an event dedicated to spotlighting inspiring environmental solutions aimed at repairing and regenerating our planet.

From November 4 to 7, this year’s Earthshot Prize Finalists will be celebrated, highlighting groundbreaking climate innovations emerging across Africa.

The week will culminate with the prestigious Earthshot Prize Awards on November 6, where five of the 2024 Earthshot Prize Finalists will each receive a £1 million award.

This funding is designed to help these innovators expand their impact and accelerate their solutions to meet pressing environmental challenges.

Nomzamo Mbatha, an acclaimed actor and humanitarian, will serve as the official host for Earthshot Week.

Alongside her, Robert Irwin, an Australian conservationist and wildlife photographer, will participate in a series of thought leadership events and high-level dialogues.

Together, they will bring current and former Earthshot Prize Finalists together with influential environmental champions, fostering collaboration to support and scale their innovative ideas.

The fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards will be co-hosted by the Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Billy Porter alongside the award-winning South African television presenter Bonang Matheba.

The event promises to be a night of extraordinary storytelling and musical performances, celebrating the achievements of global environmental innovators while showcasing the creativity and innovation flourishing across African nations.

In addition to featuring the inspiring stories of the Earthshot Prize Finalists and Winners, the broadcast will include special performances from a diverse lineup of musical artists and celebrities.

Audiences can look forward to appearances by Grammy-nominated artist and producer Davido, internationally renowned artist Diamond Platnumz, and Grammy Award winner Lebo M.

They will be joined by the acclaimed Ndlovu Youth Choir and international DJ and producer Uncle Waffles.

Supermodel and television host Heidi Klum, actor and activist Nina Dobrev, multi-talented artist Tobe Nwigwe, and beauty entrepreneur Winnie Harlow will also take part in the broadcast, announcing the five Prize Winners from each Earthshot category.

These categories correspond to critical environmental goals that must be met within this decade: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build A Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

Bonang Matheba expressed her excitement about co-hosting the awards, stating, “It’s a privilege to celebrate these incredible innovators who are making a significant impact on our planet.

I am thrilled to highlight the vibrant spirit, resilience, and unwavering commitment of environmental leaders across Africa and from around the world.”

The Earthshot Prize Awards aim to reach millions of viewers, broadcasting in 50 markets across the African continent.

Additionally, a special live green carpet pre-show will be hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and rapper Moozlie, which will be livestreamed globally via The Earthshot Prize’s YouTube channel.

Founded by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize has emerged as a powerful global search engine for the best environmental solutions.

Since its inception, 60 environmental solutions have been honored as Prize Finalists and Winners, with over 2,500 solutions introduced to Earthshot through a network of more than 400 Official Nominators.

The Prize has also unlocked more than £75 million in direct and in-kind support for these solutions, with ambitions to continue growing its capacity to drive investment and support for emerging ideas.

Both Finalists and Winners receive dedicated mentorship, resources, and technical support to help accelerate their projects and maximize their impact.
