Zanzou Nightclub video sparks outrage!
A DISTURBING video of men being forced to insert bottles into their bodies has been circulating online, causing outrage.
The video shows four men being subjected to extreme humiliation, with bottles inserted into their bodies while being told to scream in pain.
One of them was tied at their legs while being assaulted by a security guard for allegedly not paying their bill at Zanzou Bar & Lounge in Hateld, Tshwane.
Zanzou Management, the bar and lounge establishment associated with the incident, has acknowledged the circulation of the video.
In a statement, the management said: “We have since taken steps to ensure such behavior will never happen again.
We are exploring legal options against the former security employee responsible for these actions, as they were able to document the
abuse on video.
None of the individuals in the video were involved in failing to settle any bills, contrary to claims made on social media.” Police are investigating the incident.
National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has directed the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni, to track down and identify the suspects involved in the assault at a popular nightclub in Pretoria.
The police are considering charges of assault, grievous bodily harm (GBH), crimen injuria, and kidnapping in their investigation.
They have urged any victims of abuse to come forward and report the incident at the Brooklyn Police Station.
General Masemola also emphasised that the video violated the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) by displaying and distributing the faces and bodies of the victims without consent.
Witnesses and anyone with information are being urged to assist the police with their investigation.
Describing the actions shown in the video as βinhumane, barbaric, unacceptable, and degrading,β General Masemola reassured the public that the law would take its course.
Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni has instructed the District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Thine, to visit the establishment and gather more information and evidence for the investigation.
A compliance inspection of the nightclub is also set to take place.
The SAPS has vowed to dedicate all necessary resources to investigate the case thoroughly and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
