Welcome to Nandi’s Scene! Forget nepotism; when talent runs in a family, we want to expose it. Talent is something rare, and finding it among more than two people in the family is a blessing. We can’t dispute the fact that South Africa is faced with talented people. The following individuals not only are related to talented people but are stars themselves.
At number one, we have the Modiselle sisters in the country. Women are always competing with each other, but it is always encouraging when sisters have each other’s back.
The Modiselle sisters make our hearts melt from their acute social media posts, educating and teaching others to how they support one another on their career paths. The sisters have individually made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry. Refilwe Modiselle became South Africa’s first professional model with albinism.
She’s a girl with many talents; when she was in high school, she was a backup vocalist for KP and also made appearances on various TV shows. She is currently a radio host. Bontle, known for her dance moves, is an actress, dancer, singer, and presenter. She was featured on a film and a few other TV shows.
The mother of one is slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Candice, on the other side, has proved that dynamite comes in small packages. This girl is a triple threat, moving up from the ground up. She’s a TV presenter, now on SABC, and is also part of the cast of “Generations.” The sisters are proof that blood is thicker than water.
Next, we have the Mampofu siblings. Just in case you didn’t know, actor Lasizwe Dlamini has a twin brother, Prince Mampofu. The twins are siblings with popular actress Luthando Mampofu. The trio is one of our favorite celeb siblings as they always have each other’s backs.
Lasizwe rose to fame after landing his first role in 2016 on the CBC One drama “Amazin.” This was not the young actress’s first appearance on television; she had previously landed roles in a few short films that appeared on Zambezi Magic. It was also during this time that she landed a role in the film, acting alongside respected actors Thomas Gumede and international actor Aidan Gillen.
She’s also gone on to study at the New York Film Academy in America. Twin brothers Prince and Lasizwe also follow their sister by studying acting, with Prince focusing on producing and scriptwriting, while Lasizwe graduated with a degree in performing arts.
Lasizwe is best known for his lead role in the popular SABC drama series “Scandal.” Amongst numerous other roles, not only is he a talented actor, but he also sings, dances, and is a martial artist. He has gone on to achieve a great number of things in the short time he has been in the industry and was also called the next big thing.
His brother, Prince, even though he may also be in the entertainment industry, prefers a life more behind the scenes. All three of them run their production company, and Prince is their content creator. He is also a financial market analyst and a model.
At number three, we have Boity and Thickleeyonce. Of course, many South Africans know Boity Thulo as a multi-talented actress, media personality, and now rapper. She is cousins with Lesego Thickleeyonce Legobye.
They grew up together and can be seen chilling together from time to time. Whenever they spend time together, memories are made. Thickleeyonce has made a name for herself as a successful plus-size model. Together, they keep their fans glued with their exquisite sense of fashion. Recently, Beyoncé acknowledged Boity in a heartfelt post about families having each other’s backs.
At number four, we have Lasizwe and Khanyi Mbau. Lasizwe and Khanyi are brother and sister. I’m not quite sure which parent they shadow, but back in 2017, Khanyi and her siblings got together to celebrate her father’s birthday.
The TV personality shared pictures of the special occasion and paid tribute to her father for raising them with the little they had. Lasizwe also thanked his father for accepting him.
He wrote, “Thank you for the great looks, thank you for paying my school fees, thank you for loving me and accepting me for who I am.” A while ago, Lasizwe jumped on the TLT trend, proving that blood is thicker than water.
His sister, Khanyi, added to the picture they took together to make a brother lighter and to give him a slimmer nose. However, Lasizwe quickly shut down the edit. He said people felt her pictures all the time, and it wasn’t a big deal.
Simz Ngema is an actress known for her roles in “Muvhango” and “Broken Vows,” while Mpho Sibeko is known for showing face in “Gold Digger” and “Scandal.”
These two are one of Mzansi’s favorite celeb cousins and are often reminding us of the importance of family. They like to share snaps of their moments together and aren’t shy to show the offense how deep their love for each other goes. I didn’t even know they are related. These two could pass for a power couple; they were both in the same field as actors and very good at what they do.
At number six, we have Nthati Moshesh and Moneoa. Nthati Moshesh is the South African soul and pop singer, as well as a dancer, while Nthati Moshesh is an actress who was nominated for an African Movie Academy Award.
When asked about being the niece of a legendary actress and the knowledge she got from her aunt, Nthati said that her aunt always told her to let herself go. She said, “My aunt would say to me, ‘Don’t hold back when it comes to interpreting characters.
Try to understand the characters you’re playing. Try to make them relatable to you, no matter how unrelatable they are. Break them down and take them into your strides.'” And that has helped me a lot because I’m a very private person. As much as I pop up around people, I tend to be very reserved. I’m afraid to do too much.
She’s given me industry advice. She’s a great actress, a human being in general, and I love her. But what stood out for me was her teaching me to be always true to myself. She always told me to be extra careful with my energy and my talent, learn to say no, and know when to say no. She said, ‘If you’re a talented person, you always have an opportunity.'”
At number seven, we have Bonang and Pinky Girl. Television star Bonang Matheba and reality TV star Pinky Girl grew up together; they are cousins. Many came to know Pinky on the reality television show “Being Bonang.”
Even with the high unemployment rate, Pinky, a reality TV star, had the guts to quit her day job after colleagues found out that she was related to Bonang.
Having worked in IT for seven years, Pinky resigned last year, claiming that she was treated differently by her colleagues because she’s Bonang’s cousin. In an interview with Move magazine, Pinky said, “I quit when my colleagues realized I was related to Bonang. They started acting awkward, especially my female colleagues.
They gave me a hard time, so I’m even called me Bonang’s handbag because I was always with her, and they said all I do is hang around her.” Paving a new career path, Pinky publicly decided that she was going to pursue a career as a DJ. She said, “I’ve been practicing, and because I’m a technical person, I picked up a lot in the first week from my mentor.”
