Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha.

While many celebs took to their social media accounts to share their Valentine’s Day shoots and gifts, Gqom musician Babes Wodumo opted to appreciate and remember the love she shared with her husband, Big Nuz member Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.

Mampintsha died on 24 December 2022 after a minor stroke.

Taking to her Instagram timeline on Wednesday, the musician shared a video of their moments when her husband was still alive.

“As young as I was when we met, thank you, Father God, for allowing me to find my soulmate at such a young age. What a journey it was sthandwa Sam (my love). Today, I would love to say thank you, babazi, for believing in me as Babes Wodumo and, most importantly, as a wife! Lapho ukhona (where you are), I assure you that the Maphumulos and Simelane are well taken care of. I love you f***ed up, baba ka sponge.”

The first Valentine’s she spent without her husband saw the musician visit his grave before penning a short note on her Instagram account.

“Wow, after so many years, this is the first Valentine’s Day without you, Sthandwa Sam’ (my love). Today, women out there are celebrating with loved ones, but my being here today makes it different from others. I will forever cherish the days we shared together. Ngyazi ujabulile ukungbona (I know you are happy where you are),” she captioned her post.

The couple got engaged in October 2020, announcing the news with a video on social media of Maphumulo going down on one knee with a ring in his hand.

Maphumulo popped the question live on Gagasi FM’s drive show in 2020.

In the clip shared on their Instagram page, the couple sat next to each other in the studio, and then Maphumulo pulled a ring out of his pocket and popped the question.

They later celebrated their traditional wedding in 2021 and welcomed their son in the same year.

Previously speaking to News24, Wodumo’s sister and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, confirmed that the couple’s son was born.

“Babes and her newborn baby boy are perfectly fine, well and healthy. She is so excited about this new journey of motherhood. First, she got married to the love of her life, and now she is a mother to a blessing. The Maphumulo and Simelane family are over the moon with excitement,” she said in a statement.
