“Serious injuries are sadly part of this sport.” – Orlando Pirates legend sends message to Thabiso Sesane after his scary injury.
It’s been nearly a month since Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro confirmed the massive loss of Thabiso Sesane.
ORLANDO PIRATES LOSE THABISO SESANE.
The Sea Robbers have lost a third central defender in one season.
First, it was Tapelo Xoki, then Olisa Ndah, before it was Thabiso Sesane’s at the beginning of February.
“We felt [the impact] because it wasn’t an easy situation for Thabiso, it didn’t look good at that moment,” said Riveiro to journalists at the post-match conference.
“Let’s see what it is [injury]. I think the team managed to continue with the same game plan, not changing so many things.
“That’s one of the strengths of this team.
It doesn’t matter, but it matters who is playing in the team; the team finds its way to play our football.
It’s not frequent that you have to change one of your centre-backs in the first stages of the game.
It’s also difficult for Thapelo to come off the bench unexpectedly without time to activate himself. I think he did a good job,” concluded the Orlando Pirates tactician.
A MESSAGE FROM HAPPY JELE.
“Sesane has developed so much, I know him since he was promoted to the first team, many others know him now in the last 12 months [he’s stepped up], he’s been there for a long time and the team knew he was a great player,” Jele told iDiski Times.
“They wanted to build up and that’s why he had to go on loan and come back, they saw the potential he had, me as a senior player at the time; I told him when the day comes, you will grab the chance.
“I was once in his shoes – when I arrived at Pirates, I didn’t play for two or three seasons, learning, when I got an opportunity, Seema left, Tonic left, it’s when I raised my hand and started to play.
“So even him, I left the team, some players got injured and he’s raised his hand to say I’m ready now after three seasons of not playing.
The way he’s doing it’s surprised me as well, he’s doing something fabulous,” the former Bucs Orlando Pirates skipper concluded.
