PRETORIA – On Saturday, friends and family paid their last respects to late gospel music legend Solly Moholo.
His family has expressed deep frustration with services at the public hospital he was admitted into.
They criticised the lack of adequate medical care he received during his final days. They allege delays and inadequate resources contributed to
his death.
Their outcry adds to the sorrow felt by fans and loved ones as they bid farewell to the iconic musician.
Moholo’s family slams public health system
A close family friend has criticised the government’s contribution to Moholo’s funeral.
He says there should have been no question as to whether Moholo’s funeral deserved state recognition, given his contributions to gospel
music.
Vusi Vilakazi believes the government should have honored Moholo with a state funeral without hesitation.
ANC Deputy Secretary-General Nomvula Mokonyane says they will also ask government for answers following reports of inadequate medical
care at the hospital Moholo was admitted into.
The family’s alleged delays and lack of resources contributed to his death.
Last month, Moholo suffered a stroke and was experiencing multiple organ failure.
His family launched a public appeal for funds to cover his medical costs.
