Concerns have been raised due to delays in distributing the money raised from the fundraising event held on April 28 at Disoufeng in Soweto to honour and support the adored actress Nandi Nyembe.
The eventโs organisers, Kad Groove Family, and venue partner Disoufeng gave Sunday World an explanation of the circumstances, reaffirming their dedication to making sure Nyembe receives the money for her medical bills while preserving her general health.
The event, which was a sincere attempt to raise money for the veteran actressโ medical expenses, was a huge success, and the money was safely kept for her.
The transfer process was stopped, though, when several family members gave contradictory account information.
Cautious approach adopted

Together with Acting Spaces and the Gauteng Film Commission, Kad Groove Family is now adopting a cautious approach to guarantee that the money is used exclusively for Nyembeโs medical requirements, avoiding any possible misuse.
Desmond Makgalemele, the chief operating officer of Kad Groove Family, explained, โThe delay in disbursing the funds is not due to negligence but reflects our responsibility to act ethically.
โThis matter goes beyond financial assistance; itโs about addressing Nyembeโs full well-being, including safe accommodation, mental wellness, and long-term support.โ
Kad Groove Family has teamed up with Acting Spaces, a group that supports creative professionals, and the Gauteng Film Commission after social workersโ professional assessments raised concerns about Nyembeโs living conditions.
The Gauteng Film Commission is analysing the social workersโ report to determine the best course of action.
Long-term support strategy
Together, these groups are developing a long-term support strategy that upholds Nyembeโs dignity and puts her health first.
โWe are in ongoing communication with Nyembe, assuring her of our unwavering support,โ Makgalemele added.
โWe are awaiting guidance from the Gauteng Film Commission to proceed in a way that ensures her safety and security.โ
The Kad Groove Family has emphasised that its actions are motivated by a commitment to Nyembeโs long-term well-being, and it has asked the public and media to acknowledge the complexity of the situation.
The participating organisations are committed to making sure that the money raised is spent wisely and that the actress receives the support and care she needs during this trying time.
