In a rare and heartfelt revelation, she opened up about the pain, struggles, and eventual acceptance of her son Raymond’s illness and its impact on her family.

In 2000, Eucharia tied the knot with her former husband, filled with dreams of building a happy family together.

Shortly after, they welcomed their son Raymond into the world.

What began as a joyful chapter in her life quickly turned into a tumultuous journey as the couple discovered their son had sickle cell anemia.

From the moment Raymond was born, the realities of his health condition began to overshadow the joy in their household.

Sickle cell anemia, a genetic blood disorder, caused their son immense pain and required frequent hospital visits.

Eucharia described the ordeal as “one medical expense after another,” which created a significant emotional and financial burden for her family.

“I watched my son suffer, and with each hospital trip, my heart broke a little more,” Eucharia recounted.

“It wasn’t just his physical pain; it was the way it strained everything in our lives—our love, our marriage, our plans for the future.”

As the challenges mounted, the bond between Eucharia and her husband began to unravel.

The financial pressure of managing their son’s health, coupled with the emotional toll, created a rift between them.

“My husband blamed me for our situation, and I blamed him too,” she said, revealing how the blame game replaced the love and partnership they once shared.

The stress turned their relationship from that of spouses to mere acquaintances.

“We stopped being husband and wife and started becoming just two people coexisting under the same roof, weighed down by guilt, pain, and frustration,” she explained.

The toll of watching their son endure constant health crises, coupled with the breakdown of their marriage, made Eucharia feel isolated.

Despite their best efforts, the relationship could not withstand the strain, leading to their eventual separation.

The demands of caring for Raymond also forced Eucharia to make sacrifices in her career.

Once one of Nollywood’s most sought-after actresses, she found herself stepping back from the spotlight to prioritize her son’s health.

“I had to put my career on hold to focus on being a mother,” she shared.

I couldn’t be away from him for too long, knowing the unpredictable nature of his condition.”

Eucharia’s absence from Nollywood during those years was deeply felt by her fans, who often wondered why such a talented actress had retreated from the industry.

For Eucharia, it wasn’t just a professional hiatus—it was a time of personal growth and reflection, though one marked by immense pain.

Tragically, Raymond passed away in 2017 at the age of 15 due to complications from sickle cell anemia.

Eucharia described his death as the most devastating moment of her life.

“I lost a part of myself when I lost him,” she said.

Despite the heartbreak, Eucharia has found solace in her faith and her work as an evangelist.

She has channeled her pain into helping others and raising awareness about the struggles faced by families dealing with sickle cell anemia.

“Raymond’s life, though short, was full of lessons,” she shared.

“He taught me resilience, love, and the importance of cherishing every moment, even in the midst of suffering.”

Today, Eucharia is a vocal advocate for sickle cell awareness and support for families dealing with the condition.

She has spoken openly about the need for couples to undergo genetic counseling before marriage to understand the risks of passing on sickle cell traits to their children.

She has also urged society to be more compassionate toward families navigating such challenges.

“People don’t realize the toll it takes—not just on the child but on the entire family,” she said.

Through her advocacy, Eucharia hopes to inspire others to approach life’s challenges with faith and perseverance.

She credits her spiritual journey for helping her find peace and purpose in the aftermath of her loss.

Reflecting on her experiences, Eucharia expressed gratitude for the lessons life has taught her, even through the pain.

“Life doesn’t always go the way we plan, but it’s how we rise after the fall that defines us,” she said.
