Abia Nale in danger of losing his house due to non-paid debt

Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Abia Nale is in danger of losing his house because he owes a commercial bank over R400 000, according to a report from City Press.

Nale, who was on Chiefs’ books from 2009 to 2014, is said by the online publication to have received legal documents last Wednesday from Standard Bank, saying his house could be put up for auction if he does not repay R415 804.

Nale, now 38, apparently stated to run into trouble when he was still playing football.

“The matter emanates from 2009 when he was still playing,” a court sheriff told City Press.

“He agreed to an overdraft facility with the bank and he has been occasionally using it without paying.”

The publication says that Nale agreed to pay the bank back in instalments of R21 000 per month, but has not been doing so.

Nale joined Chiefs from Golden Arrows in January 2009 and played regularly fairly regularly for about three and a half seasons, though he was never a prolific goalscorer.

He did score two goals and four assists in 15 Premiership matches in the 2008/9 season.

He repeated that in 24 Premiership appearances the following season.

Nale eventually had loan spells from Chiefs at Ajax Cape Town and MP Black Aces, before leaving the club for good in 2014.
