Big Brother Mzansi’s golden couple, Mandla Hlatswayo and Lexi van Niekerk, have fuelled rumours that they have split after over a decade of their relationship.

The reality TV stars – who infamously hooked up in that shower scene – have two children together.

BIG BROTHER MZANSI’S MANDLA & LEXI SPLIT?

On the X app, Lexi Van Niekerk, also known as Lexi Van, posted several cryptic tweets about walking away from a hurtful situation.

She tweeted: “FINALLY walking away from something that you THOUGHT would work out. Investing every ounce of self, hope, and belief, and then getting disrespected, lied to, gaslit, and betrayed, is prob the most f**ked up thing I’ve endured in a long while. But let me gather my crazy self and heal”.

In another likely referencing her 11-year relationship with Big Brother Mzansi season one winner Mandla Hlatswayo, she tweeted: “574 weeks. I’m done!”

In the comments section, followers believed that the couple had split after a recent dramatic Instagram Live.

Lexi and Mandla began dating during their stint on the popular reality TV show. Mandla would win the season, and the couple would marry and have two young sons.

Lexi has often spoken about being criticised for being a “gold-digger” over her relationship with Mandla, who won R1 million as the last housemate still standing on Big Brother Mzansi. She has called out critics who fat-shamed and slut-shamed her on social media.

She addressed her critics in a TikTok last month: “I am me…You don’t know me. I post so little of my life on social media, I have my kids and I dont bother anyone. I am human”.

She added: “I’m a strong person, but sometimes I am tired of being strong.”

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

After winning Big Brother Mzansi season one, Mandla Hlatswayo and his then-girlfriend Lexi then starred in the spin-off series Mandla & Lexi.

Mandla – who owned a spaza shop in Sebokeng – had a short stint as a music artist.

According to Sunday World, he now runs a business where he buys second-hand cars, fixes them, and sells them. In 2020, Mandla was forced to sell his house after going through a rough financial patch.

Lexi works as a social media influencer and a full-time mom.
