βItβs about timeβ: South Africa Celebrates After Chidimma Adetshinaβs Mother Finally Gets Arrested
South Africans are celebrating the arrest of Miss Nigeria 2025 Chidimma Adetshinaβs mother in Cape Town. Home Affairs confirmed that it had arrested Chidiimma Adetshinaβs mother Ms Anabela Rungo who had the Miss Nigria 2025βs child.
Why Chidimma Adetshinaβs Mother Was Arrested and Potential Charges
Adetshinaβs mother faces several charges including fraud and breaching the Immigration Act after she continued to stay in South Africa without proper documentation.
Rungoβs South African documentation was revoked in September 2024 when officials discovered it had been fraudulently obtained, making her ineligible to reside in the country. Despite this, Rungo allegedly continued living in South Africa using a Mozambican passport, showing a blatant disregard for the law. Investigations are ongoing to explore any additional fraudulent activities.
Chidimma Adetshinaβs Child Handed to Department of Social Development
During a Saturday morning operation, investigators from the Counter Corruption and Immigration Services branches discovered that Adetshinaβs underage child was also living with Rungo. After processing for her illegal residency, Rungo will be handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS), as the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is also looking into her case.
The Department of Home Affairs is collaborating with the Department of Social Development and the SAPS Child Protection Unit to ensure the safety and well-being of the underage child.Β The Department said it would provide further updates in due course.
