Nonku Williams, a reality TV star and businesswoman, is leaving theΒ Real Housewives of DurbanΒ (RHOD), which signifies the end of an important chapter in her life.
Citing the negative effects of the showβs toxic atmosphere on her mental health and general well-being, Nonku wrote in a heartfelt social media post on Sunday that she has decided to leave the reunion and the show.
She reflected on her journey with raw honesty, stating: βAfter much reflection, Iβve made the difficult decision not to return to the show and to distance myself from the reunion. Itβs not an easy choice, but itβs one I must make.β
Showβs destructive tendencies
βWatching myself on screen, Iβm confronted with a reality thatβs difficult to accept,β she wrote, acknowledging that she struggled with the person she saw on screen.
βThe woman I see isnβt someone I recognise or respect.β
She also admitted to her part in the drama of the show, but she cited the larger dynamics as a major reason for leaving.
βIβve played a role in shaping this narrative, but Iβm also a product of the showβs dynamics,β she wrote, describing the relentless pursuit of drama, the rivalry, the gossip, and the put-downs as a βtoxic cycleβ that has worn her down.
Looking to the future, Nonku is committed to concentrating on her obligations to her community, her faith, her children, and herself.
βI want to make a difference, to leave a positive mark on the world. But this show, with its destructive tendencies, isnβt the platform for that,β she said.
Nonku prioritises her mental well-being
She underscored her resolve to put her mental well-being first and surround herself with positive people, saying: βIβm choosing to take care of myself.

βIβm choosing to be authentic, to be true to myself, and to live a life that reflects my values.β
As a mother, Nonku is committed to setting an example for her kids, teaching them the value of compassion, empathy, and kindness.
She also conveyed a strong sense of obligation to her community and faith, hoping to make a difference, be a force for good, inspire and uplift others, and be a light in the darkness.
βIβm choosing to break free from this cycle, to seek a path that uplifts and inspires. As I close this chapter, I hope my story can serve as a testament to the power of self-awareness, courage, and redemption.β
