Former Sundowns Coach Rulani Mokwena Rejects Lucrative Offers
Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena is taking his time choosing his next move, and heβs made it clear that not just any offer will do.
The 38-year-old, who recently parted ways with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club, has reportedly turned down two offers from the Gulf region despite the financial rewards on the table. Mokwenaβs contract with Wydad was originally set to run until June 2027, but both parties agreed to a mutual termination amid the clubβs financial struggles, including late salary payments.
Why Rulani Mokwena Rejected 2 Lucrative Offers
Since leaving Casablanca, Mokwena hasnβt been short of suitors. Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC β fresh off their CAF Champions League win β reportedly held early talks with the South African tactician. But that move seems to be on hold, as the club still has to resolve matters with their current coach, Krunoslav Jurcic.
In the meantime, SABC Sport has revealed that Mokwena turned down an offer from Al Jandal SC, a Saudi second-division team. According to sources close to the coach, he wasnβt ready to accept a job at that level, especially given his ambitions.
Another approach reportedly came from Al Shahaniya SC, who play in the Qatari Stars League, but that too was rejected.

Only Big Projects Will Do
Mokwena, who is now back home in South Africa, is said to be holding out for a more prestigious challenge β ideally a role with a club competing in the CAF Champions League or a top-tier international side.
