Kaizer Chiefs star Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa has managed to keep his private life under wraps, leaving many to guess his age.

Since joining the Soweto giants, Mthethwa has fast become one of the most followed stars at Kaizer Chiefs.

However, he is trending after fans connected the dots about his age against the backdrop of his birthday.

The 31-year-old midfielder was born on 19 April 1994. His birthday seemingly rubbishes reports that he was born on 20 September 1994. However, fans were puzzled by Mthethwa’s age.

Mzansi was divided, with many convinced that Sibongiseni Mthethwa looked older than his age.

CAREER

Surprisingly, his youth career is unknown. However, he used to work in the textile industry a few years ago before his breakthrough.

He seemingly started his senior career with the Royal Eagles, but he joined the Black Leopards in 2020.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s command of the game saw him join Stellenbosch in the 2022/2023 season. While at Stellenbosch, he attracted several big clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu.

European interests were also reported, but nothing materialised.

Two days before the deadline, Kaizer Chiefs signed the star. He has been influential in the team. His command of the game and style of play have been compared to Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande.

He received his first national team call-up in the 2022-2023 season while with Stellenbosch.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Bafana Bafana’s call-up saw him become the fourth player to be called up for national team duty from Stellenbosch.

Since then, he has been a regular and has earned over 10 appearances for the national team.
