“I’m a Special Friend to Him”: Zodwa Mkandla Clarifies Relationship With ‘New Boyfriend’ Luis Munana

Popular socialite and entrepreneur Zodwa Mkandla has opened up about her relationship with Namibian heartthrob Luis Munana amid speculation that he is her new boyfriend.

Social media was awash with speculation that Zodwa and Luis are a couple after pictures of them being cosy went viral.

In an interview with The Herald, Zodwa Mkandla, whose only public relationship was with her former husband Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure, dismissed suggestions that Luis Munana is her new lover.

She said that the two of them were just friends and their friendship blossomed when they met in Zambia in 2023. Zodwa explained that they found common ground because of their love for fashion. She revealed that they have taken their friendship up a notch and are now business partners.

“Luis and I are friends,” she declared with a sense of pride. He is a good friend, and we met in Zambia during the Lusaka July in 2023. As a fashion enthusiast, we just clicked. I can also confirm that Luis and I have a few business transactions we are working on together,” Zodwa Mkandla said.

Business Partners and Event Companions

Zodwa went on to emphasise that she is just a special friend to Luis urging people to move past the notion that women and men can’t just be friends.

“People need to understand that it is entirely possible for a man and a woman to be friends. The African community often struggles to grasp this concept. I am a special friend to him,” she added.

Zodwa Mkandla also disclosed that she and Luis Munana have attended events together as friends. She also revealed that Munana has been to Zimbabwe a few times.

“After our meeting in Zambia we discussed many business opportunities. I later invited him to the Miss Universe Zimbabwe and he was a guest judge. He has been to Zimbabwe. It is just that some people did not know much about him or they were ignorant, I don’t know. We are friends and business partners. For the record, we have also attended few events together as friends,” she explained.
