Popular Umkhokha actor Kininonke “Kini” Shandu is getting ready for his white wedding to sweetheart Andile Khanyile on 15 December on KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast.
In July, the Shembe Baptist Nazareth Church devotee and self-styled Zulu traditionalist took part in the church’s ukuhlanganisa ritual.
This special ceremony is only performed when the bride-to-be is a virgin. During ukuhlanganisa, the woman wears a white dot on her forehead to symbolise her purity.
The wedding will be a private affair after Shandu paid lobola and held an umkhehlo (a traditional wedding) at Khanyile’s home in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal, in December 2023.
“It’s all systems go for Kini; there is no turning back now. He is officially off the market. We have received our private invitations, and they are for close family members and friends. We are not allowed to give out more details about the venue, but rest assured that he is getting married on Sunday,” said a source close to the couple.
Another source confirmed they were instructed not to reveal the venue.
“He’s avoiding a situation where too many people might want to come and witness it. There are no secrets, but he wants only those close to him to attend since he allowed people to cover the two previous ceremonies,” the source said.
Kini, who is also a businessman, confirmed he was getting married.
“It’s about time that I separate myself from young boys like you. I will no longer share the table with small boys like you. I’m already a man, and I will be marrying her for the third time now,” he told Scrolla.Africa.
