Tsitso’s legacy lives through beats!

DANIEL Rametsi Tladi, fondly known as Tsitso, had an extraordinary knack for inspiring audiences to dance with his music.

In honour of his talent, his life was celebrated with the same joy and rhythm he bestowed upon others.

The memorial held at his home in Atteridgeville, west of Tshwane, was a dance-filled tribute to his vibrant spirit.

The 37-year-old tragically passed away on Sunday, 29 December, after being shot on the evening of December 20th.

Tsitso was a well-known producer and DJ in the Tshwane music scene. He was instrumental in the popularisation of Bacardi music, and his performances always left audiences exhilarated.

Prominent DJs such as Enny Man The Guitar, DJ King Jazz, and Sje Konka led mourners, who packed the tent to its brim, in dancing as they celebrated their beloved Tsitso. Family member Daniel Rasego shared insights into Tsitso’s life at home, highlighting the love Tsitso had for his children.

“I would make him sell his phone so that he could buy food for his children, that’s how much he loved them,” he said.

The family mentioned they had lost a pillar of strength.

Friend Petso Mochaka, overwhelmed with emotion, spoke of Tsitso as more than a friend — a brother.

“He was like my mother’s child. We used to eat together at break times. He changed his family’s situation and inspired me greatly. I was with him the day he said he wasn’t feeling well,” he said.

Petso added that Tsitso loved his child immensely and had promised to buy an iPhone for them.

“Tsitso profoundly changed my life. The first time I boarded an airplane and sat among renowned artists like Kabza Da Small was because of him,” he said.

Petso remarked on Tsitso’s ambitious nature and his desire not to let others surpass him.

“He did all he could. I would give anything to have him back, even for just a moment, to say I love you and remind him he is always with me,” he said.

Friend Steven Mahoma spoke about Tsitso’s wish to start a foundation for disadvantaged children and his tendency to donate to the needy.

“He achieved everything he wanted: starting a soccer team, buying a motorbike, luxury cars,” said Mahoma.

He revealed he was with Tsitso on the day of his death.

“I later received a call and found 25 cartridges. The weapon that kills meets its end too,” he said.

His friends stated that Tsitso was a pillar of strength to his family.

“It doesn’t mean he was perfect; we all have our flaws.

“He possessed multiple talents, including being a comedian and a DJ, an infectious spirit that could brighten any room,” they said.

“He was competitive. The person who wronged us, do they know the pain they’ve inflicted?” he said.

Most speakers highlighted how deeply Tsitso loved and was loved by those around him.
