In the aftermath of the incident, Makhadzi took to social media to address the situation and clarify her position. She issued an official statement explaining that she had been scheduled to perform at the Quest London Annual Fun Games and Musical Festival.

According to her, the promoter had reached out to her management team, and they had agreed on a performance fee of 180,000 Rand.

Makhadzi’s statement detailed that a contract had been provided to the promoter, which stipulated that a 50% deposit must be received before any promotional activities could commence. Furthermore, the full payment was required at least 14 days prior to the event.

While the promoter did pay the initial deposit and an additional 3,000 Rand for a promotional video, they failed to meet the contractual agreement by not paying the remaining balance on time.

Makhadzi clarified that her team was only informed of the event details after all payments had been confirmed according to the terms laid out in the contract. She expressed her disappointment over the situation and apologized to her fans for the confusion and distress caused by the promoter’s failure to fulfill their obligations.

Some argued that if a promoter pays 50% upfront, it creates an expectation that they will fulfill their financial commitments in a timely manner. Others pointed fingers at the organizers, questioning their decision to use a replica performer when they knew the real artist had not been fully paid.
