Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is a big fan of Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng.

The 20-year-old is one of the best players currently in the Betway Premiership. In the three seasons he played professinal football, Mofokeng has won five trophies with the Buccaneers.

His consistency has attracked clubs from Europe including Spanish giants Barcelona. Having made his debut for Bafana Bafana last year, the Pirates winger is destined for great things.

Hugo Broos has given Mofokeng the green light to play his football in Europe next season

“Rele can play in Europe, and I said it in the first year when he came into the Bafana team because immediately there was a lot of interest in him,” he said according to FARPost.

“I said to him: ‘Look, just stay one year more [at Pirates]. You play [CAF] Champions League with Pirates, and you will have experience of the PSL as well. It is too soon to go now’. So he made a good decision to stay at Pirates.”

Mofokeng has been part of Hugo Broos’ Bafana squads but the Belgian coach has made it clear that the youngster was not ready to start games in the national side. He also urged him to not join a big team like Barcelona without establishing himself in Europe.

“Everybody likes Mofokeng and he is a nice guy and has a lot of talent,” Hugo Broos added. “But if he joins Barcelona now, he is just Mofokeng and will play for the second team. But when you talk about Rangers, what is Rele going to do in the Scottish league? He will not play there even with the talent he has. The football in that league is not ideal for Rele.”
