Camilla Exposed as Prince Harry’s ‘Wicked Stepmother’ in New Documentary

Inside Prince Harry’s relationship with his ‘wicked stepmother’ as William defrosts feud

Prince Harry has issued a number of attacks against various members of the Royal Family over the years and one person he’s taken aim at is his stepmother Queen Camilla

It’s no secret that Prince Harry has an incredibly strained relationship with the Royal Family and one person he certainly isn’t close with is his stepmother Queen Camilla.

The Duke of Sussex didn’t hold back as he opened up about life behind Palace walls in his debut memoir Spare and issued a number of attacks against his family. In the bombshell book, Harry spoke about his disdain for Camilla and even admitted he and his brother Prince William begged their father not to marry her.

While William seems to have mended his relationship with Camilla, Harry hasn’t and has branded the Queen a “villain”. Here, we’ve taken a look inside Harry and Camilla’s tense relationship.

Begging Charles not to marry Camilla

King Charles married Queen Camilla on April 9, 2005. While it was a very happy day for the couple, not everyone had been happy at the thought of the monarch remarrying following his divorce from Princess Diana.

Harry has revealed both he and his brother pleaded with their father not to marry a second time following the death of their mother. In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex wrote: “A wedding would cause controversy. It would incite the press.

“It would make the whole country, the whole world, talk about Mummy, compare Mummy and Camilla, and nobody wanted that. Least of all Camilla.”

Despite their begging, however, Harry and William eventually promised Charles they would welcome Camilla into the family. Harry said there were “no hard feelings” as his father married “the woman he’d always loved”.

‘Wicked’ stepmother

In fairy tales, the idea of a wicked stepmother is all too common and it’s exactly how Harry has portrayed Camilla. In his memoir Spare, Harry admitted he had worried about his “wicked stepmother” and was concerned she would be cruel to him.

In the book, Harry wrote about what life was like following his mother’s death and admitted he wasn’t happy when his father moved on. Harry said he sensed the presence of “the Other Woman” and that Prince William had suspicions about her which tormented him.

An insider previously told The Mirror the “wicked stepmother” dig had been the last straw for King Charles. “Harry was well aware how Camilla would be a red line for his father and he crossed with flagrant disregard anyway. The King felt without a doubt it crossed a line – it was the ultimate act of disrespect,” they said.

Converted bedroom

Harry was believed to “resent” Camilla after she decided to make some changes to the home she shares with Charles. She allegedly turned his bedroom at Highgrove House into her dressing room.

Journalist Tina Brown, who was good friends with Diana, wrote about the incident in her book Palace Papers and said it added to Harry and Camilla’s strained relationship. The author said the Duke of Sussex “can’t stand” his stepmother.

Harry also detailed the incident in his own book. Writing in Spare, he admitted he “tried not to care” but couldn’t help but be upset.
