Steve Barker

Stellenbosch FC are arguably the most well-run club in South Africa’s PSL, all things considered and factoring in their financial resources. Manager Steve Barker has done a stellar job with the Cape Winelands, turning Stellies into a dangerous side who can cause anyone problems on any given day. They also won the first trophy in their history under Barker, the Carling Knockout 2024.

Kaizer Chiefs

The great man needs no introduction. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Jingles, a man courted by Kaizer Chiefs for years, ended up coaching their rivals, Orlando Pirates? It’s a bit of a wild card option, but never say never in football.

Al Ahly’s boss has a fine CV, notably Caf Champions League crowns with the Egyptian giants in 2023 and 2024. If Pirates can’t secure a second star under Jose Riveiro, they might be tempted to move heaven and earth to secure the 60-year-old Swiss.

José Riveiro has chosen not to extend his contract with the Sea Robbers, which expires in June 2025.

Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza stated: “While we would have liked José to extend his stay with us, at the same time, we fully respect his decision. We are grateful for everything he has done for the club.

“The achievements of the intervening years speak for themselves. The joy that José and his support staff have brought to this club will never be forgotten.

“The club’s immediate priority will be twofold. Firstly, in keeping with his wishes, we will find the appropriate time to fully express our appreciation of José and his contribution to the club but secondly, for the football department to begin the extensive exercise of finding a suitable replacement ahead of the 2025/26 season.

“We appreciate the three years of service that José has given this institution and fully support his decision. Wherever his journey takes him, he must know that the Orlando Pirates family will always be behind him.”
