Connie Ferguson and her daughters remember Shona Ferguson on what would have been his 50th birthday
It’s been three years since actor Connie Ferguson lost her husband of 20 years, Shona Ferguson, and on 30 April, she took to social media to celebrate what would have been his 50th birthday.
She shared a video of her husband singing blissfully in his car and saying that he looked forward to turning 50 and was already planning activities for the occasion.
Her post read: “Today would have been your 50th birthday! The way you were looking forward to it and how you started planning for it already! All I know is if you were here, we would be in some foreign country now, exploring and celebrating life! Because you were big on celebrating!”
She promised to celebrate his life.
“Today and every day I celebrate you, my love, for all you were, not only to me or to our family, but to everyone who had the pleasure of your encounter, in person or otherwise. You gave me the best 20 years of my life, and for that I will always bless God. Happy heavenly 50th birthday my angel. I’ll never stop missing or loving you! Continue resting in peace, my king.”
Shona Ferguson died in 2021 after succumbing to Covid-19-related complications. He was buried on 4 August at Fourways Cemetery in Johannesburg.
His widow wasn’t the only one who took time to celebrate his birthday.
His daughters also expressed their love for him.
“Happy Heavenly birthday Fah. We’d beeeeeen talking about your 50th, how we’d be celebrating it and the plans we had leading up to it. I hope you’ve kept your word and are celebrating it in style up here. I hope love continues to surround you and I hope our ancestors are spoiling you. I wish we could’ve done the same,” Lesedi posted on Instagram.
“Today would’ve been your 50th. I remember you being so excited for this day and started planning what you wanted to do way in advance. Words cannot describe how much I miss you Fa, but one can only trust in God to ease the pain of your absence. I pray that you are resting peacefully and that we are making you proud. I love you always and forever Fa,” Alicia wrote.
