Winter Transfer News: Kaizer Chiefs sacrifice defender for top attacking target!
Kaizer Chiefs have a long term plan for one of their top priority signings. The Glamour Boys face Mamelodi Sundowns next.
The Kaizer Chiefs faithful were baffled by the sale of key defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe – but according to reports, it’s one of the steps AmaKhosi are taking to sign Al-Ittihad striker Tumisang Orebonye.
Rumours confirmed.
“It is a tricky situation but that is what Chiefs and Al-Ittihad are working on,” a source confirmed.
“Chiefs wanted Orebonye from AS FAR but could not get him and it’s believed that they apparently discussed with the Libyan side on how the sale of Ditlhokwe could land them Orebonye,
“They [Al-Ittihad] can keep him until the next transfer window. So, that’s the situation—Chiefs had to sacrifice the defender to get the striker for next season,” they added.
“AS FAR could have not released or sold the Botswana international to their former coach Nasreddine Nabi, and that’s why it’s believed that Chiefs had to make this arrangement with Al-Ittihad as one way of signing one of their targeted strikers,
“Yes, there is a plan in place on how they could sign Tumisang (Orebonye) from Al-Ittihad next season. But he is not the only striker they are looking at. They still have other targets but will apparently use the arrangement they have agreed with the Libyan side to sign Orebonye. They need other options as well though.”
Ngcobo to Kaizer Chiefs?
Another player Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring is Royal AM ‘keeper Xolani Ngcobo:
“There were other teams that had also shown interest before but the one that has inquired about him in recent times after what is happening at the club is Kaizer Chiefs,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“They have shown serious interest and have inquired. But with the current situation at Royal AM there is nothing much we can say,
“I think they will wait on what is going to happen first as they monitor the situation. But they are interested in him.”
