Amakhosi suffered their ninth league defeat of the season this past Sunday at the hands of the Natal Rich Boys. In the 72nd minute, Thulani Gumede’s shot came off the post to fall kindly to Mbuthuma, who made no mistake to make it 2-0.

Dissecting it on SABC’s Soccerzone, Hlungwani said Mbuthuma’s second goal was offside.

“Let’s go to Mbuthuma. Mbuthuma here. Let’s go and have a look if he gained advantage by being in that position,” he said.

“You can see the ball is played and from home, you can see that Mbuthuma is standing in another position. We’ll draw the line for you to show you where he is standing. Whether he’s in an offside position or onside position. “Let’s see where Mbuthuma is, and there he is in an offside position.”

Hlungrani said Mbuthuma gained an advantage when the ball rebounded from the Kaizer Chiefs goal post.

“Now we are going to look at the ball when it rebounds from the goal post. When he [Mbuthuma] plays it, offside interfering or gaining advantage by being in that position.

“So, this was ruled onside, goal was given. Incorrect decision because he gained an advantage by being in that position. That should’ve been ruled offside!” Hlungwani said.

Kaizer Chiefs are next in action against Golden Arrows later this month. Richards Bay play Polokwane City in their next match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
