Orlando Pirates set to sign Stellenbosch duo? They are seemlingly eyeing two Cape Winelands stars.
Orlando Pirates are looking to right their wrongs following no signings in the January transfer market.
The Buccaneers, sitting second on the log, are chasing a well-oiled Mamelodi Sundowns side who are edging ever closer to becoming runaway favourites after the Pretoria outfit dismantled Jose Riveiro’s side 4-1 in February.
Sundowns’ shock draw to Golden Arrows has Orlando Pirates still dreaming, but they have some serious work to do, lying sixteen points behind with four games in hand.
Transfer targets.
Pirates, scouting for wing backs, are considering bypassing former target Fawaaz Basadien for Stellies teammate Thabo Moloisane.
“As far as defenders are concerned, Pirates’ main target is Thabo (Moloisane), and that’s why they are set to table an offer for him,” a source revealed.
“They are looking at strengthening the central defence as they are looking at having a strong backline next season where they will compete in almost all the competitions, including the CAF Champions League. Moloisane has grown as a player. He is playing in Africa with Stellenbosch and Pirates are looking at that as an advantage to sign him. You know the club is also looking at right back and left back”.
Another Maroons star on Orlando Pirates radar is centre-back Olivier Toure. The 27-year-old is another player gathering valuable African minutes, starting in the majority of the Cape Winelands CAF Confederation clashes this season.
”He [Toure] is still on the club’s (Pirates’) radar, and it’s just a matter of when the club will be taking the interest forward by making a formal offer,
“If you look around the league, you will notice that he is one of the reliable and consistent defenders, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed as interest in his services is growing.”
