Winter window: Orlando Pirates top three transfer targets!

Orlando Pirates eye Cape Town City midfielder

Orlando Pirates will be looking to redeem themselves after a horror summer transfer window. They’re monitoring some big names.

Orlando Pirates will hope to avoid their summer window whoopsie, failing to land a single player amid their best chance for the title in years.

The Buccaneers, who lie second on the log, are linked with several African stars, including Bafana winger Oswin Appollis.

Here’s who I think Orlando Pirates will be pursuing in the offseason.

Jaedin Rhodes

Cape Town City youngster Jaedin Rhodes has long been admired by Orlando Pirates, who reportedly try to sign the 21 year old in January.

The former PSL Young Player of the Year is one of South Africa’s hottest prospects, equipped with over seventy top-flight appearances and brimming with untapped potential.

SoccerLaduma confirmed the Sea Robbers interest, saying, “he [Rhodes] has been one of their [Pirates] targets for some time now,”

“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.

“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”

A second source said, “obviously, they (Pirates) will either loan some out or release some as well. But that’s the time they need to work on their squad and since it didn’t happen in January then they will work on it in the off season. Rhodes is one player on that list already.“

Yanele Mbhuthuma

Another PSL star on Orlando Pirates’ radar is Richards Bay frontman Yanele Mbhuthuma.

“Yes, the club [Pirates] is planning on bringing in another striker and they have already identified some strikers including [Yanele] Mbhuthuma from Richards Bay and that’s why they want to loan out Radiopane or release him,” another source explained.

Orlando Pirates still after Oswin Appollis?

Oswin Appollis should choose Kaizer Chiefs: 'He must go to Nabi's team because the boat is sinking and they need him more than Pirates do' - Fan Vote | Goal.com South Africa
With the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng and Monnapule Saleng linked with moves away, Orlando Pirates will be on the lookout for world-class replacements, such as Oswin Appollis.

Who else should Orlando Pirates approach?
