Over R50 million: Kaizer Chiefs to sign these three players?

Bold moves here, if true.

Kaizer Chiefs are hot on the heels of three marquee signings in January. Here’s who they are and what they might potentially cost.

Fiston Mayele

Valued at €1.2m (R22.5 million) by transfermarkt, the experienced marksman won’t come cheap.

He has an exemplary goal-scoring record, including four goals in four Caf Champions League games this season.

He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

26 goals in 52 matches overall for Pyramids FC is a stunning scoring ratio in anyone’s books.

Feisal Salum

Salum is only valued by transfermarkt at roughly €100k, or R1.

8 million, but his potential transfer fee would be considerably higher than that.

The classy 26-year-old scored 19 goals last season for Azam FC and already has double figures in 2024-2025.

He also has 37 caps for Tanzania.

It’s unlikely Chiefs will pull off a move for the playmaker unless they fork out north of R13 million, and they’ll also have to pay him roughly R220k a month as a base salary.

Oswin Appollis

Why Oswin Appollis is moving to Soweto this January

23-year-old Bafana and Polokwane winger Oswin Appollis is a rare player in South Africa, with a low centre of gravity and the ability to go both ways when confronted by a marker near the touchline.

His rare combination of traits makes him a highly coveted operator.

Elias Mokwana, Khanyisa Mayo and Iqraam Rayners are other South African attackers who’ve made big moves either abroad or within the Betway Premiership.

Mokwana moved to Esperance for 370k (R7.2 million), Rayners switched to Sundowns for an undisclosed fee although his estimated transfer value now stands at R35 million (evidence of the power Sundowns have over the market) and Mayo is in Algeria with Belouizdad in a deal which cost his new employers €750k (R14.5 million).

It would be no real shock if Polokwane held out for something around R15 million for Appollis.
