TWO powerhouse actors join Skeem Saam.

Former Muvhango actor Lesley Musina and ex-House of Zwide star Warren Masemola are set to join the popular SABC1 show, Skeem Saam. The announcement was made by the channel on Wednesday, 23 October.

Warren will portray the character of Gopane, Smaki’s (played by Ndivhuwo Ramashia) father. Smaki is a Turfloop High School pupil who’s currently missing. Gopane, a native of Turfloop, had left for Joburg to work as a taxi driver. Now, he has returned to find his missing son.

Warren said he’s excited to join the show. “It’s absolutely beautiful. I actually feel like I’m in Limpopo. Being a city boy who grew up in Tshwane, the set of Skeem Saam makes me feel like I’m back with my people,” he said. Warren will make his debut on Monday, 4 November.

Lesley, on the other hand, will play the character of Fefo, Melita’s (Hellen Motsuki) blast from the past.

“Shooting Skeem Saam is a dream come true. What an amazing production. Everyone is so welcoming here and I immediately felt at home when the cast, crew and production welcomed me with open arms. It feels like I’ve been here forever,” he said.

Lesley will make his debut on Wednesday, 20 November.

In a surprising twist for fans of the popular South African soap opera “Skeem Saam,” renowned actors Warren Masemola and Lesley Musina have officially joined the cast. However, their arrival has ignited a heated debate across social media platforms due to controversial actions from their past.

Masemola, known for his compelling performances in various dramas, and Musina, celebrated for his dynamic roles, are both set to play pivotal characters that are expected to shake up the existing narrative. While fans are excited about their talent and the fresh energy they bring to the show, many are expressing concern over the actors’ previous controversies.

Both actors have faced backlash for incidents that some viewers consider problematic. Masemola has been involved in a past scandal that raised questions about his on-set conduct, while Musina faced scrutiny over comments he made during an interview that were deemed insensitive by some audiences. As a result, a significant portion of the fan base is questioning whether their past actions should overshadow their contributions to the series.

Social media has become a battleground for differing opinions, with hashtags supporting and opposing the actors trending alongside discussions about accountability in the entertainment industry. Some fans argue that everyone deserves a second chance and that the focus should remain on their professional skills, while others contend that past behaviors cannot be ignored.

Skeem Saam producers have expressed their confidence in the actors, stating that their inclusion is intended to bring new storylines and depth to the series. They encourage viewers to focus on the characters and the overall narrative rather than the actors’ pasts.

As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how Masemola and Musina’s performances will be received and whether the audience can separate their professional contributions from their personal histories. The new season promises to be as dramatic off-screen as it is on-screen, captivating viewers with both its plot twists and the ongoing discussion about redemption in the public eye.
