Barely a month after singer and songwriter Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana passed away, allegations of disrespect toward the deceased have ignited controversy among fans and the media.

According to ZiMoja, Zahara’s sisters, Bandezwa and Lumka, have moved into her Lille Falls, Roodepoort home and invaded her personal space by ransacking her wardrobe and belongings.

Reports indicate that while Zahara was still fighting for her life, the sisters were accused of misusing her bank account to splurge at a popular shopping destination in central Johannesburg.

A source revealed that after several failed attempts to guess the correct PIN, Zahara’s bank card was blocked to prevent unauthorized transactions.

Beyond the financial misconduct, additional claims suggest that the sisters tampered with Zahara’s wardrobe by seizing her cherished performance dresses.

In keeping with traditional customs, when a loved one dies a ceremony is typically held to distribute the deceased’s clothes freely among family and friends—a ritual that had not yet taken place when the sisters’ actions came to light.

A close friend disclosed that one of them, identified as Babezwa, even wore the white dress Zahara donned during her final performance, a detail that has left fans deeply heartbroken.

Meanwhile, unfounded rumors concerning Zahara’s fiancé, Mpho, have further marred the image of someone the late singer once trusted.

When approached for comment, Zahara’s sister, Bandezwa, stated, “We were just trying them on. What is wrong with that? She is not here anymore.”

These remarks have only intensified the controversy, prompting many to question the ethical and cultural implications of such behavior and the apparent disregard for the legacy of a beloved and talented artist.
