Sonia Booth, the ex-wife of retired Bafana Bafana player Matthew Booth, has responded to the headlines surrounding Springbok captain Siya Kolisi’s divorce from wife Rachel.
The businesswoman – whose soccer star husband allegedly left her for another woman – has also shared her opinion about female sports groupies.
In 2022, Sonia and Matthew made headlines after reports of his alleged affair with “friend” Bongani Moller.
SONIA BOOTH ON SIYA KOLISI DIVORCE
Speaking to Timeslive, Sonia Booth reflected on her own experience as a sports WAG in light of Siya Kolisi’s divorce.
Hinting at the Springbok captain, Sonia claimed that sportsmen were flooded with attention from female fans.
She said: “The uncultured, unpasteurised groupies have zero sense of personal space and zero regards for your feelings and existence. However, the onus lies on the player to address this.
“Some won’t, because the attention boosts their egos and inflates their heads.”

Another former Bafana Bafana WAG, Loui Fish – the ex-wife of retired soccer star Mark Fish – also related to Rachel and Siya Kolisi’s marriage breakdown.
She said: “Most super athletes come from poor or average backgrounds. Then overnight, they hit the big time, and life turns upside down. Nobody prepares you to deal with the fame, the money, the girls, the drinking, and the drugs.
“Boys will be boys, and they drag each other off to strip clubs, and all the groupies follow.”
NO HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Like Rachel, Siya Kolisi’s wife, both Sonia Booth and Louis Fish split from their sports star spouses.
Theirs was filled with allegations that their partners had been unfaithful.
In 2022, Sonia posted a social media expose about how her husband, Matthew Booth, had been having an affair with a woman named Bongani Moller.
Sonia also accused Matthew of misusing funds from Booth Trust. Following the bombshell allegations, Sonia added that she suspected Matt of trying to track her movements.
Matthew has denied the “unfounded allegations”.
The women behind late Springboks Joost van der Westhuizen and James Small have also spoken out about the Kolisi divorce.

In September, Sonia told Radio 2000 that her divorce had been “heavily contested and nasty.” She also claimed that it “drained me emotionally, physically, and financially.”
Meanwhile, Loui Fish claimed in her autobiography Walking In My Choos that her ex-husband, Mark Fish, was a “serial cheater.” She also accused him of being verbally abusive.
