TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has confirmed the new role of former Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker at the club. Parker retired at the end of last season after 20 years in the professional ranks.

The 39-year-old was roped into the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] after he hung up his boots. Within a few months of his coaching career, the former Kaizer Chiefs striker is now the assistant coach in the senior team under Beganovic. He takes over from Vuyo Mere, who is reported to have left the Betway Premiership club.

“Bernard Parker is a big name in South African football, a Bafana Bafana player and also played in Europe,” said Beganovic.

Meanwhile, Beganovic has bemoaned the mistakes that cost them three points against Magesi on Sunday. Galaxy have now gone three games without a win but remain in the top five.

“The opponent plays long balls and set pieces, but if you commit the mistakes like we did and concede two goals, then we can’t expect to win the game. In the end, we had the opportunity to score in the last minute but we missed.

“But after everything, we probably don’t deserve to win this game. But it’s tough to play here because the pitch is small and it’s not proper. The grass was not okay, but we tried to adapt ourselves for this game, but it was so tough.”
