My brothers and sisters shared these common beliefs with the rest of the world.
The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live by these common beliefs,” Chip Carter, Jimmy Carter’s son, said in a statement announcing his father’s passing.
Carter survived brain cancer in 2015 but faced a series of health scares in 2019 and underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, according to CNN.
He was a peanut farmer and Navy lieutenant before entering politics, serving a one-term governor of Georgia and becoming the 39th president of the United States, from 1977 to 1981.
