KING Misuzulu’s first wife, Queen Ntokozo Mayisela, broke her silence on her absence from Zulu royal events.

It’s been nearly a year since Queen Ntokozo last attended major royal events, following the arrival of the third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni in 2023.

Queen Ntokozo’s absence from events such as the Battle of Isandlwana commemoration, Umkhosi Womhlanga, and Umkhosi WeLembe has raised many speculations because she previously attended these events before Queen Nomzamo’s arrival.

In the past, during major events, Queen Ntokozo would be introduced first by the king. After a long silence, Queen Ntokozo Mayisela explained that her absence is a private matter, and that King Misuzulu is aware of it.

She assured the Zulu nation that she remains fully dedicated to the Zulu throne.

Queen Ntokozo clarified that she has no objection to polygamy but learnt about her husband’s new marriage through social media, like many others.

“I’ve never met his new queen, honestly. I know nothing about her. I’ve never received or accepted any gifts from her, as she has never been introduced to me.

No discussions involving me took place regarding her lobola or any related matter. There is no quarrel between us,” she said.

Queen Mayisela was introduced as King Misuzulu’s first queen when he took the throne in 2021.

In the very same year, he also married Queen Nozizwe Mulela from Eswatini as his second wife. She revealed that King Misuzulu has another queen who lives outside Mzansi.

“She’s publicly known and has attended several functions as one of his majesty’s queens. I’ve never interfered in his decisions.

As his first wife, I haven’t been involved in these matters. I continue to reside in my palace, kwaNkomonye, in Ulundi. My protectors have never been removed from me,” she said.

Queen Ntokozo said that the constant attacks and defamation of her character on social media have caused her great distress.

“To those responsible, I ask that you remember that, as much as I’m a public figure, I’m also a mother. I’ve never responded to the false rumours spread about me in the past. However, my silence has been repeatedly taken advantage of,” she said.

King Misuzulu’s spokesman Prince Simphiwe said that he’ll start by consulting the king before he comments, but he didn’t come back to Daily Sun.

He was contacted again several times, but his phone rang unanswered, and a WhatsApp message was sent but there was no response.
