Nelisa Mchunu is a South African actress and model. The 32-year-old is best known for playing Fikile on the soap opera Uzalo.
The actress is also known for playing the murderous Bazothini on the Mzansi magic drama series Isifiso. She has also appeared in many other television shows and is killing each role.
Early Life
Nelisa Mchunu was born on February 2, 1992, in Wartburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Her parents had ten children, and she had nine siblings.
At the age of four, her father died. Her mother, a teacher, raised her and her siblings in Wartburg in KwaZulu-Natal.
The budding actress relocated with her mother at six years to Clermont, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Later she moved to her stay with her grandmother in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, with her brothers while in Grade 8 because her mom was having financial issues.
Education
Nelisa studied dramatic arts in high school. After her matric, she studied Media Studies at the University of Witwatersrand. She dropped out of school due to financial constraints.
During her application to the university, she chose drama as her first choice and law as her second.
Career
After leaving school, she got a job as a waitress and an assistant for a PR company. Later she joined showbiz and has continued to exhibit raw talent.
Mchunu had a role as an extra on SABC 3 soap opera Isidingo. Later, she played the funny and loveable Fikile on the much-viewed soap opera Uzalo.
In the award-winning sitcom Ses’ Top La, she played Phumzile. Before acting, she did a stint modeling and did pageants. She exhibits raw talent as she plays Bazothini on Isifiso.
Personal Life
As of 2022, Nelisa Mchunu is single and has not revealed any man in her life. In a 2020 interview, she shared that she was not married and was not in any romantic relationship.
However, she gave her reasons as her inactivity in looking for a husband. She says when the right man comes, she will give it a try.
Siblings
Nelisa Mchunu and her sister Londeka Mchunu are making their family proud with their accomplishments.
Londeka plays Snegugu in the Mzansi Magic production Isithembiso. She has other siblings that are not in the limelight.
In 2016, Nelisa joined the soap opera Uzalo, and a year later, Londeka became a cast member of Isithembiso. Their family could be prouder.
Apart from her acting talent, she displays exceptional skills in the kitchen. She is very talented at cooking, but few people know about it.
