Gqom hitmaker, Babes Wodumo was booked to perform at a Durban night club, Views Twenty 5 on New Yearβs Eve, a day after she buried her husband, Mandla Maphumulo popularly known by his stage name, Mampintsha.
Following the untimely death of her husband, she has since been booked and busy and her fans loved that for her. Many have urged her to pick herself up and reclaim her throne, and theΒ WololoΒ hitmaker has decided to do so. At a crowded New Yearβs Eve party, Babes performed Big Nuzβs summer hitΒ NgekeΒ . During her performance, the stage was on fire, and social media users couldnβt stop gushing over her.
What alarmed many was a freestyle lyric she sang which said β Mina ngzilile kodwa ngyayβphuzelaβ loosely translated as β I am in mourning, yet I am drinkingβ.
Some were concerned while some scrutinized the manner in which Babes is mourning, saying:
βIts not a laughing matter, I hope those who are close to her are monitoring her situation closely and find the help that she needsβ wrote Siboniso TooNice Latha.
βJudging from the lyrics itβs most likely kuthiwe nje milk this hype now mama to get back into the market while you are still trending. We PR people will not see heaven. People were already going to support her in rebuilding her career, she didnβt need these lyrics.β said Tem N Shongwe.

βShe is hiding her pain I am talking from experience. The next minute I was bedridden with a swollen back, and couldnβt move. Because I didnβt allow myself to go through the pain of losing a parent. I understand we mourn people differently if this helps her heal allow her to do it freelyβ commented Nthabiseng Bembe.
Controversial Nota Baloyi seemingly commented on the matter in an Instagram video, although he didnβt mention whom he was talking about, many Instagram users assumed he was referring to the Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha debacle.
