SA actress Gcina Mkhize begs for assistance: “We need food”
The award-winning actress Gcina Mkhize (51) who is best known for her role as ‘Jola’ on Mzansi Magic telenovela ‘Isibaya’ has lost her home after failing to pay monthly bond repayments. Her house has been auctioned, and someone bought it last year, but she is refusing to move out.
The new owner sent people who broke and removed windows from the house so that she ended up giving up and moving out. She owed over R200 000 to the bank.
The owner of the property she is staying in removed the windows in order to renovate, and she feels as though this compromises her safety and the protection of her female children. Award-winning actress Gcina Mkhize and businessman Dzivhu Tevin Mashila, who purportedly purchased her house at auction, have been at odds for some time.
Dzhivu claimed he had lawfully bought the bond because she had neglected to make her payment. Since the house was sold, Gcina and her kids have been residing there for nine months. Dzivhu has taken out the windows and is remodelling the house.
Dzivhu revealed to ZiMoja that he has been having trouble getting Gcina to leave the house he purchased. “She initially answered yes when I offered to rent the house to her for R12k, but she later changed her mind. He remarked, “I am essentially paying for her to live in my house.”
“I want to renovate the house, so I took the windows out.” He continued by saying that the house still needed a lot of work. She won’t go, therefore I can’t fix the house the way I want to. He said, “She’s trying to get public sympathy at my expense. The other tenants are starting to get scared because she brought her prophet and sangoma to do scary things to the house the other day.”
