If you’ve ever watched TV couples and thought something might be going on in real life, you’re not alone. While it’s not always the case that on-screen couples will date in real life, many actors have met their significant others on set.
In this list, we will look at South African actors who met while working together on the same production and began dating in real life. If you know some more couples we didn’t mention, please feel free to let us know in the comments section. But first, subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content like this.
1. Luanda Zani and Sparky Tulu
Luanda Zani, a South African actress who recently came into the spotlight, is dating Sparky Tulu. They met on the set of “Redemption,” where Tulu was the main lead.
Their relationship isn’t without controversy, as one is only turning 20 years old this year while Tulu is already in his 30s. Some were bothered by this, especially since Tulu, being in his 30s, approached the 19-year-old. It’s also worth noting that Tulu even has one child already by an unknown baby mama.
2. Sa Andama and Kama
These two might interest you as they both act on “Smoke and Mirrors,” where Sao plays Magol and Kama plays Petunia. In the entire history of acting, this is the first time they’ve acted on the same set.
On socials like Instagram and Facebook, they share their pictures together on vacations and trips they’ve been to together. The two are clearly in love, and we hope their love lasts long, as it’s not always a good idea to mix business with pleasure.
3. Wand Zuma and Shalat Cabe
On number three, we have the household with stars Wand Zuma and Shalat Zabi. Firstly, they haven’t confirmed these rumors themselves like others on this list, but we have it on good authority that the two are dating.
They’ve been seen going into private functions together, holding hands and being cozy. Furthermore, Cabe released a song called “Can’t You See,” in which she asked Zuma to be her love interest in the music video.
Some fans believe the message was to Zuma. What is much more interesting about this couple, however, is the fact that they actually married on “House.” Maybe that led them into growing closer and eventually falling in love with one another.
4. JT Mup and Le Tunzi
These two aren’t so new, but their story is definitely one of the most inspiring. Unlike most of these recent couples who haven’t even lasted for 2 years, JT and Le hang have not only outlasted the minimum bar of 5 years for most couples but also have a child together.
They both love. Furthermore, their relationship has lasted for more than 10 years, as the couple is believed to have met in 2014 when they played siblings Jonathan M and Angela Male on “Generations: The Legacy.”
JT Mup and Munzi have served the best couple goals in terms of years together and raising their child together. As we all know, raising kids apart can break them and their views of relationships.
5. Masandi U
Masandi and Andama U, everyone probably knows about these two from “Muu” and “Masandi,” but how true is it that they were dating in real life? Well, it’s most likely true.
In 2022, some of their colleagues confirmed the rumors of the two dating, which didn’t come as a shock to their fans because on the drama they were also a couple. According to their colleagues, the two never actually hid their relationship at work but tried keeping things professional so that it didn’t affect their work.
While they were private about their relationship on social media and the tabloids, in private they were very open and would post each other on their WhatsApp statuses. As of 2024, we don’t know if the two are still together, but unless we see Masandi floating another woman, it’s possible they’re still together.
6. Hungani and Stephanie
Hungani and Stephanie Sanders is also another tale as old as time but true as it can be. These two also met at work when Hungani was casted by his then boss, Stephanie Sanders, who also played Ingrid on the show. But after a while, she fell in love with Hungani and had to find a way to let him know.
So for this relationship, the woman made the first move. Girls, don’t be afraid to make the first move; you could be missing out on a great love story because of that pride that the man must approach you first. Now back to the story, after she approached him, the two began dating and even got married.
Today, they have a child together and are still together. Although it’s fair to say it wasn’t all fun and games as they almost divorced a few years in, but they worked things out. J is no favorites, as you all know, but they triumphed.
7. Xhosa and Mzi
Their relationship ended in tears, but the two had been together since 2015, according to sources. You may ask where the two met. Well, they met on the set of “Tell Me Something,” and that’s where they fell in love.
Even though they tried keeping their relationship under wraps, it wasn’t possible. Ms was so passionate that he would even defend her from trolls on Twitter, now called X. But like most relationships, it ended in stuff we now know as tears after cheating allegations on either part of this couple.
8. Dudi and Fatima
Here’s another couple no one tells you about, and they’re our favorite couple. The couple of Dudi and Fatima met on the set of “Zone 14” in 2007, and Dudi has been in love ever since. Before this, Dudi had been married and divorced with two children, and it wasn’t easy with his wife even accusing him of being absent.
But after he met Fatima, everything changed, and the two got married in 2010 and have been together ever since. As of 2024, they’ve been together for 17 years and 14 years married. Fatima says Dudi is much more calm and gentle than his ears on our screens, like Suffocating BR Elliot on “Deep City.”
While the couple inspires everyone today, it wasn’t easy for Mr. Suffocate to win this woman’s heart. It took him a year before she said yes. So he end his way in, and she couldn’t be any more worth it. The couple has two kids of their own, meaning Dudi has four kids in total.
9. Bongi and Lekumal
Kum I know is a film legend and whatnot, but you’ve got to admit breaking your marriage with the 15-year-old while you’re in your 30s has to be not only questionable but dishonorable and maybe worth getting jailed.
But that didn’t happen to Bongi, who won his wife with Lekumal, who was 15 at the time. The two met on the set of “Saraphina” when Bongi was literally Lekumalo’s boss, so a lot of questions indeed.
Now after dating, they got married, and Bongi was convinced he was good, but he wasn’t. This is because, as a result of the age gap, he was controlling and abusive to Lekumal, who was still young. So the marriage lasted only 14 years. Lekumal labeled the marriage and the relationship as disgusting after Bongi’s death.
10. All right
All right, coming to our last couple, while we can’t tell you which set they met on, the two became friends through the acting industry, working on numerous overlapping productions together.
Even though they were married to other people, they were not happy. K said that she was married to a narcissist, and no matter what she did, it wasn’t enough.
While MTI blames getting married too early for his unhappiness and said his split from his wife was amicable and that it was just a matter of where the guys to say, “Look, bro, this ain’t working.
We got to go our separate ways.” And guess what? MTI was that guy. Suspiciously, a year later, he was already dating Gil Chabalala, who had in the same year prior divorced a so-called narcissistic husband.
Most fans found that suspicious, and you can obviously see why, but they insisted the two events were unrelated. But the dots aren’t in their favor. Still, we’ll take their word for it.
These are their stories. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content like this, and you can also check out our other videos we listed.
