We know plenty of music celebrities were born poor but managed to amass big money once they hit it big in the entertainment industry. But did you know that these celebrities were born filthy rich, and whether they become successful or not, they will still be swimming in millions? Today, the spotlight is on celebrities who come from wealthy families. Let’s go!
To start us off, we have 21-year-old Sizwe Pumulo, who is set for life at this point because of his dad, DJ Black Coffee. Not only is DJ Black Coffee the number one DJ in Africa, but he is also said to be worth 60 million US dollars, which roughly translates to 800 million rand.
Just imagine, you remember when someone let slip that Black Coffee’s wedding performance fee is a hundred thousand US dollars. I mean, just last week, he was wearing a 50,000 rand sweater.
But it’s not like Sizwe is just waiting around to chow his father’s money; he is well on his way to making his own name. He even worked for Label MakoSA at New York Fashion Week and is also an aspiring DJ, so we can’t wait to see how he does.
The next one is Mandisara Debe, better known as Debe Gogo. Well, this one came as a huge shock from Zanzi. Who else had to pick up their jaws from the floor after finding out that she is essentially part of the first family? Get this: she is the daughter of former minister in the president’s office, Jeffery Dube, and mining magnate Bridget Radebe is her stepmother.
Bridget Radebe has an older sister who is married to the president of the country, Cyril Ramaphosa, and her younger brother is none other than Patrice Motsepe, South Africa’s first black billionaire. If that doesn’t shock you, I don’t know what will.
But you know what I love? That Debe herself never used her family to get ahead. I mean, we only found this out in 2020 after someone had done the research. She is just out here minding her bag and giving us hits.
On the next one, the jury is still out on whether he’s a celebrity or not because I don’t know how to address him—Andy Mpisane. 21-year-old Andy Mpisane popped up on his mum, Shauwn Mkhize’s reality show, “Kwa Mam’Khize,” and proceeded to ask for a million rand to shoot his music video, like it was 10 rand.
Well, he got it, and the song flopped. He then wanted to be a soccer player, and his mom bought him a soccer team. They even reportedly bought their neighbor’s property at around 2.9 million rand so that Andy could build an entertainment empire.
Essentially, what Andy wants, he gets because his mom has the money. Where does all this money come from? Well, Shauwn Mkhize has built her empire in construction, transport, and grooming services. She is a tenderpreneur who teamed up with eThekwini Municipality to build low-cost housing and medical facilities in KwaZulu-Natal.
The family has a mansion in La Lucia and a massive collection of cars, so they are not struggling at all. But the government did shut down one of her companies after she failed to pay 122 million rand in taxes. But aside from that, Mkhize is living in the lap of luxury.
Ali Ferguson, 19 years old, is dabbling in everything from fitness, dancing, playing drums, etc., and is in no hurry to get a job. And even if she ever wants to get a job, she can always go and work in the family business.
Her parents are Shona and Connie Ferguson, and they own one of Mzansi’s biggest media houses, Ferguson Films. They have their hands in multiple pies that include investments in the IT world, personal care products, acting, directing, and more.
Have you seen their house and cars? Just last week, Shona got a Bentley and an Aston Martin for her birthday. And although we don’t know which model it is, we know it’s expensive because Aston Martins don’t go for less than a million rand each.
Another person who’s out here eating his youth like there is no tomorrow is Robbie Malinga Jr. He is the one person who has money and wants the world to know. You remember when his late father said he worked hard to provide for his family because his children are so spoiled? Who had no idea.
Not only did Robbie Jr. take over his late father, singer and composer Robbie Malinga’s IG account, but he also made sure to get his hands on his millions, which he is steadily chowing through.
For his part, the 19-year-old has been trying to get his rapping career off the ground for years now, but it’s been cricket so far. We hope things pick up before his father’s money runs out.
You remember when Cassper Nyovest said Tobeka’s baby mama is richer than him? He wasn’t lying. I mean, even her IG bio literally says “Rich Mom.” Tobeka’s mother is Durban businesswoman and hotelier, Thobeka Josie.
Thobeka’s catering business has been getting million rand tenders from the KZN government to host VIP events and government functions from way back when, so she is boiling. On a side note, Tobeka’s mom was arrested in 2020 on charges of tender fraud. I wonder what became of that case, but let me drink my water.
There you have it, guys. Not everyone is out here struggling to make ends meet. And if you like this video, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up. Until next time, bye!
