1. Minutes and Quentin Jones
Minutes’ relationship with Quentin Jones is one of those love stories which fans never saw ending. They met in 2010 and formed a close friendship while working together at Evinrude Studios. After a year of casual dating, they made their relationship official.
Their relationship became the talk of the town as a celebrity couple. In 2017, they tied the knot, and the relationship was blessed with a child. In 2018, rumors of their relationship going through a rough patch surfaced in the media. This was later confirmed with the couple announcing that they are getting a divorce in 2022, with the husband accusing Minutes of infidelity.
2. Renele Solonyani and Nkanyiso Call Me Boy
Renele Solonyani, known as Nkanyiso Call Me Boy, is a retired soccer superstar who played for the South African national team. In 2017, he tied the knot to Renele in a private ceremony. The couple seemed happy together until Renele reverted to using her maiden name on her social media handles.
She was trolled by social media users for dumping Nkanyiso because his money was over. Though she wasn’t clear if they divorced or not, she later confirmed that they are no longer together, but the reasons for the separation were still not clear.
3. Mapula and Nelson Yokong
Mapula, known as an actress in “Scandal” on ETV, where she plays the role of Thembi, was married to Nelson Yokong. There is not much known about when the relationship started or when they got married, but their marriage was blessed with a baby girl who is probably six years old as of 2023.
This means the couple might have married back in 2016 or earlier. They have confirmed a divorce approximately seven years later, which is this year of 2023.
According to reports, Mapula confirmed that she is no longer interested in being in a relationship with her husband, Nelson Yokong, and that she is dating a DJ. In some reports, it is speculated that the DJ in question is DJ Fresh, who has divorced his wife recently.
4. DJ Fresh and Thabiso Sikwane
DJ Fresh and Thabiso Sikwane divorced in 2022, calling it just a formality because they had parted ways back in 2020. The reason for the divorce was not clear, but they said it was because they stopped communicating to each other as husband and wife.
The relationship ended up lasting over 20 years. They still seem to love each other even after announcing the divorce. Fresh and Thabiso married in 2002 after meeting at YFM. In previous interviews, the couple attributed the success of their relationship to open communication and a healthy intimacy life.
5. Lady Du and Angiline Ncaza
In January of 2022, Lady Du took to social media to announce the end of her relationship with Angiline Ncaza. She also specified why they decided to go their separate ways: “I’m not one for gossip, but this is from my heart.
We did not break up; we followed our hearts and that meant separating before things went south.” Her ex-boyfriend also took to social media, apologizing to Lady Du for why she never found peace in the relationship but still applauded her for her strength.
6. M and Angela Gani Kasara
M, an actor well known as The Lion King producer and composer, called it quits with his partner Angela Gani Kasara after the third attempt. M first married Angela in 2008 before they split in 2018. He later remarried her, and they divorced again in 2017.
He’s also been married to two other women, Refilwe Gibson and Londiwe Gumede. They got together again only to end it in 2021. “We hoped the third attempt would have been the final one in both our lives. We’ve tried hard and we’re proud of our efforts. Regrettably, we simply did not connect,” read the statement in part.
7. Tamsen McKenzie and Haradi
Former “Generations” actor Tamsen McKenzie is one of those celebrities whose marriage didn’t survive the storm of divorce. The star was married to Haradi, who gave him three children, and they seemed very happy.
Back in 2015, his wife accused him of abuse and had to get a restraining order against Tamsen. The couple had been together for more than 11 years, but after over a decade of marriage, they got divorced.
Many of us know Tamsen as Samuel Khumalo, brother to Sonia and Benny from the original “Generations” from back in the day. He was also madly in love with Kahisura Kosa’s Sharon.
8. Lego Loser
Lego Loser, a self-made millionaire, first got married in the 2000s. Though prominent information on his wife of the 2000s is not known to the public, it is speculated that Lego Loser lost his revenue, and his wife dumped him in 2008, after eight years of marriage.
After years of living the bachelor life, Lego Loser finally married his second wife in 2017, who, like him, was called Lego. Lego’s second ex-wife, Lego Jojo Mokena, is a reality TV star famous for “The Real Housewives of Johannesburg” reality TV show.
After marriage, she took up her husband’s surname, and the two Legos had their fun confusing Mzansi. In March 2021, after a lot of speculation from the public, Lego came forward and announced his second divorce.
9. Sophie Ndaba
Sophie Ndaba got married in late 2017 in Italy, where they took their vows. They kept their marriage affairs a secret to the public. Sophie has been married three times and divorced three times.
Veteran actor Themba Ndaba, best known for his role as Brutus Khoza on “The Queen,” was the first man to be Sophie Ndaba’s husband. The pair reportedly met in the mid-1990s and got married in 1998. Sophie and Themba Ndaba were divorced in 2017 in what appeared to be a very civil and amicable process.
To date, they have not revealed why they broke up. Her second husband was Mpumalanga-based pastor Bishop Keith Harrington, whom she married in December 2011. Sadly, their marriage ended in June 2012, and they finalized the divorce in 2018. Despite having two failed marriages, Sophie Ndaba did not lose faith in love and fell in love again.
10. Somizi and Mohale
The last to focus on is Somizi and Mohale. The pair had a traditional wedding in September 2019 and a white wedding in January 2020. They became the most talked-about gay couple in South Africa until they announced their separation in August 2021.
Mohale wanted a divorce from Somizi, accusing him of being abusive. When the divorce was built to be finalized, it was reported that there is no more divorce since their marriage was not recognized as valid to start with.
