South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has admitted that his addiction to sex led to his breakup from the mother of his child, Thobeka Majozi.

In an interview with Mpoomy Ledwaba, Nyovest revealed that his sexual appetite had seen him break things off with Majozi two years ago.

Nyovest, has spent the last few months emphasising the fact that he is a born-again Christian and had found happiness pursuing the gospel.

“I created a serious mess. I hurt my baby mama so much. We broke up, and I have been single for two years… God was showing me that I was destroying myself with sexual relationships.

All of my hope is in you," Cassper reflects on his wedding day

“You’re having difficulties with women because you only see one thing. I was addicted to sex and sexual immorality in general.

“I had such a big ego, and I thought I was better than everyone else. I was humble in the sense that I was a good person, and I didn’t offend anyone. I was headed straight for hell if I didn’t have that wake-up,” he said.

Speaking about what led him on his current spiritual journey Nyovest said:

“I was going through the hardest time of my life. I woke up one day, I looked in the mirror and I had questions I couldn’t answer. It was three simple questions: Who are you? Where do you come from? and Where are you going?

“My whole life became a blur. I didn’t enjoy anything; I didn’t care about anything. I remember I was going to perform in Durban and I said that if I see my son I’d feel better, but when he ran up to me, I felt nothing. Nothing!”

Nyovest revealed that he had been diagnosed with depression.

“I would struggle to sleep, I’d sleep for an hour or two. I went to hospital and they diagnosed me with depression. They gave me a pill, made me feel better only for a few hours. Then I went to therapy, and it made me feel a little better until I was alone again.”
