Boilerplate

South Today is an independent digital gazette covering the energy, rhythm, foodways and stories of the modern American South. Its launch edition features illustrative stories across food, music, craft, landscapes and city life, organized around seven planned dispatch desks: Atlanta, Charleston, Austin, Nashville, New Orleans, Savannah and Appalachia. The site is free to read and carries no advertising.

What to know before you write

Please describe the launch-edition stories as illustrative rather than reported news, and the bylines as placeholders. Our masthead page explains this. South Today Radio audio has not been released, the newsletters are not yet sending, and there are no paid memberships. We do not publish audience or subscriber figures, and we would ask you not to cite any.

Contact

For press enquiries, interview requests or the logo mark, write to [email protected]. We do not promise response times, but we will do our best to be clear about what we can and cannot provide. Corrections to anything written about us can go to [email protected]. We do not publish a phone number or postal address.

Usage notes

When you refer to South Today, please use the name exactly as written, with both words capitalized. Please do not alter the logo mark, place it on busy backgrounds or imply endorsement by South Today of any product, event or organization. If you quote from a story, please link back to it and identify it as an illustrative launch-edition piece where that matters to your readers. We are happy to look at a draft for factual accuracy about South Today itself, though we cannot promise a quick turnaround.
