There are no paid memberships yet. Here is what subscribing means today.

South Today has no paid memberships and no subscriber portal. There is nothing to buy, no account to create and no login. Every story is free to read. This page explains what subscribing means today, and what we might consider later.

What you can do today

  • Newsletter signup. You can enter an address on the newsletters page. For now it is stored only in your own browser, because the newsletters are planned and not sending.
  • RSS. Our feeds page lists RSS feeds you can follow in a reader of your choice. This is the most reliable way to follow new stories.
  • Bookmarks. Save stories to return to them later. They are kept in your browser, not on our servers.

What is not available

There are no paid tiers, no members-only stories, no subscriber events and no apps. We do not collect payment details, and we will not ask for them on this site as it stands. If anyone claims to be selling a South Today subscription, they are not working with us.

What paid options might look like later

We have not decided anything, and none of this is a promise. If South Today grows beyond its launch edition, we might explore optional support from readers, such as a paid membership that helps fund reporting. We would want the core stories to stay open, any payment to be clearly explained, and your privacy to be respected. We would update our privacy policy and terms before taking anything from anyone.

Stay in touch

If you would like a note when anything changes, write to [email protected] with the subject line Subscribe. We do not promise response times. Until then, the free options above are all there is, and we think they are a good way to follow along.

Why we are cautious

It would be easy to put a subscribe button on every page and a payment form behind it. We would rather wait until there is something real to offer. Readers should know exactly what they are signing up for, and a promise of a members-only edition that does not exist would not be fair to anyone. When that changes, this page will be the first to say so.
